Halloween

This year I had to tell my 13 year old that she's just too old to trick-or-treat. This was followed by several instances of doorbell rings with trick-or-treaters older than her, sigh. I even had a middle aged man come trick or treating with a grocery bag, he wasn't even dressed up! Maybe things are different out here, but I thought it was for children, not teens and grown ups. I gave them all candy, even the old guy. My daughter did take the younger ones out with dad and they all seemed to have a good time. She got a good amount of candy from my one year old who only got to try one piece.

Speaking of my 13 year old, I only have an inch and a half on her now, but somehow I weigh a LOT more. It doesn't seem fair. I tried canning yesterday. I made four jars of homemade apple butter. My fingers and my stomach are now burned but the jars look so cute in the pantry. I'm finding myself looking around the kitchen for more things to can.

Another month has gone by...

I'm getting extraordinarily bad at updating this blog. I've been sick, really sick, and working while I'm sick, which makes me more sick. I'm loving the rain and cool temperatures, I hope it never gets hot again. My children are alternating between being monsters and angels, as usual, with bouts of sickness in between.

I'm tired which means I look horrible. I have been sacrificing makeup and hair time for sleep and it shows. I also skipped ironing twice this week. It's not a good look, trust me. Work is good. The commute is great, the hours are great, the bosses are nice and we get free stuff. It's nice.

I tried to do cuttings in the garden recently, that turned out horribly. I was reading the other day that Obama was eating quail eggs and caviar. What do quail eggs taste like? Where would a person buy them? I may need to try this delicacy.

After Three Weeks Off I Return

Tomorrow I'm going back to work. It's about time. I've gotten quite lazy, trust me. My house is messy, my kids are late for everything. I'm much better at this mom thing when my plate is stacked with work and schedules. I know it sounds weird, but not everyone is domestic.

I can't wait to have a reason to do my hair and makeup again, and money to get my color refreshed! Today, I plant kiwi's, tomorrow it's back to the grind. My backyard is now almost completely composed of edible landscaping. We have 5 apple trees, two nectarine trees, a pomegranate tree, a cherry tree, and we have ordered a pear and a peach tree. We also have raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, hot peppers of different varieties, zuchini, watermelon, and, of course, tomatoes. Sadly, the artichokes did not last through the really harsh winter we had last year. I'm excited about the kiwi's going in today.

Reality is setting in, with our cash only policy that we instituted about 6 months ago there is no safety net. We have NO credit cards. That means that if I want something I have to work harder or longer rather than just charging it and worrying about it later. We are trying to plan a trip to California this summer. We've vacationed twice so far with only cash/debit, but never on an airline without credit. It's a scary world out there, but we may just pull it off.

I really should go do the dishes, I don't know what it is about staying home that puts me into sloth mode.

Back at Work

I'm working again, finishing up my second week. It's becoming more fabulous by the day. I hated the first few days but am now feeling lawerly and independent. I'm even getting used to the Metro. I found a great school for baby to attend and care for the other two before and after school and I'm feeling like our life is getting back on track. It's all an enormous juggle, my husband is working long hours at his job right now and I'm putting in a lot of hours too between my commute and working ten hour days. It's snowing just a bit outside, hopefully it doesn't decide to bury us!

I'm still following the trainwreck that is the Obama/Biden administration, it's hard not to when you work a block from the White House. Two years, 9 months until we can elect someone else.

My Baby Will Be One Tomorrow

My baby girl is getting ready to turn one. I'm not ready, I want to push the pause button. She's not quite walking yet, but trying. She has a sense of humor and giggles at us. She is so sweet and sheltered right now. She's never had anything bad happen to her. Tomorrow I will make her her little cake, shaped like a princess crown, and smile and sing happy birthday. My little one is getting big! She has millions of adventures ahead of her. Is it possible to be happy and sad at the same time?

Being All Domestic and Stuff

I have been running around making all sorts of stuff from scratch. Cooking all sorts of crazy things and breaking kitchen appliances left and right. The baby is currently eating homemade apple chips. Seriously. I also tried to felt some sweaters with no luck whatsoever. I know where the mistake was made, the sweaters were not wool, they kinda need to be. I made fruit roll-ups, they were not good. I made chicken pot pie with all fresh ingredients, that was good. Of course I have bird issues so I had to pick around the chicken. Today I am making bread with butternut squash, I have to braid the dough, should be interesting. I have a cake pan that I purchased for baby's birthday it's in the shape of a princess crown. Am using four colors of icing and about 30 tips, okay that's an exaggeration, but a lot of tips. Sent out a few feeler emails today to previous work contacts to see what's out there....

The baby is almost a year old and this living on a budget thing really doesn't work for me. I like stuff. So, while I was considering this I decided to do an impromptu fashion show to see what I need in terms of business attire. OMG, none of my pretty clothes fit me!!! I look like a stuffed sausage!
As sanity returned and the baby cuddled up to me I realized that going back to work is probably still another good six months away. Now, I need to get my ass to the gym!

Obama's Daughters Did Not Get H1N1 Vaccine

Obama's daughters reportedly did not get the H1N1 vaccine. The White House says it's not available to them because they are not at risk. CDC begs to disagree with them being at risk. Not available? LMAO. He's the effing President. If it's not good enough for your family, Mr. President, it's sure as hell not good enough for my family. I refuse to be a guinea pig for a new vaccine, especially one with ingredients that are suspected to cause neurological disorders in later life.

Update: Obama's daughters have now been vaccinated according to the White House Blog. My kids are still not being vaccinated. Obama himself, and Michelle, still have not been vaccinated. The risks of the vaccine are too great. Looking at the odds, I'm going with no.

The Sickness is Coming

Today my son got sent home from school, sick. He threw up in the hallway, twice, and the bathroom once at school. He hasn't been able to hold anything down. He's been sleeping for hours. As I sit here with an incredibly stiff neck, sore throat, and stomach issues I wouldn't wish on anyone I can't help but wonder what kind of sickness this is and whether the baby will get it. I've heard my oldest daughter coughing and sniffling, I know she's getting it. She, of course, insists she's not. My husband shows no signs, yet. He did walk in the house today, pick up my drink and drink out of it, bad move.

I can't seem to get the words swine flu from the back of my mind. Here's hoping I'm being paranoid.

Balloon Boy's Parents are Tempting Fate

I have never used the excuse that a relative died to get out of work. Why? Because karma will bite you in the ass. I was always superstious about that. If you say someone is dead, then they will die. I know it doesn't actually happen, I think it doesn't actually happen.... It's just bad. Now, the Heene family all lied and basically told us their kids was in grave danger or dead (he may have fallen out). It's just horrible. I could not imagine pretending my child was in danger or dead to get a television show, or for any reason.

This poor child, having to pretend he was missing on national television, live at that. I'm sure it absolutely hurt him inside, and that's probably why he threw up whenever anyone asked him a question about it. I wonder how many times those kids have been forced to lie about things. Just how important is the limelight? It seems these parents were willing to sacrifice an awful lot for some attention and some cash. What a lesson to teach your children.

Joy Behar Annoys Me Beyond Belief

Joy Behar makes my skin crawl. She has no idea what she's talking about at any given time. She is brash and insulting and ignorant. Why did she get her own show? She should be muzzled for her own safety. She acts like a eight year old. She calls everyone who she doesn't agree with an idiot. She's on HLN. I used to be able to just leave HLN on in the evening. Nancy Grace, Showbiz Tonight, even Issues with Jane Valez Mitchell.

I just can't stomach Joy Behar. I have to turn the channel, even when I'm interested in what the person she is interviewing has to say. When I tried to watch her interview with Orly Taitz, who is the attorney in the Obama Birth Certificate lawsuits she completely ruined any chance to hear anything interesting. Instead of interviewing Orly Taitz, she taunted her by saying 'no one believes you.' 'Do you really want to take down a sitting President?' Like we should keep him if he's not a natural born citizen just because he's already in office. It's his actions, not those of Orly Taitz that will decide his fate.

After Joy Behar spent the segment making fun of Orly Taitz and talking down to her she said it was nice having you on, and that was the end of her time. There was not even the pretense of good faith. She just had her on to have a place to publically act childish and horrible. She's like the kid in class that's always making fart noises, trying desperately to get attention. If she had a brain in her head I might find her interesting, but apparantly her only game is to make fun of people and talk about them, constantly using the term 'idiot.' I hope she gets taken off the air due to lack of ratings. I can't imagine anyone wants to watch her show, which has no substance and an extemely annoying host.

Relaxing

This is the most relaxed I've felt in a long time. The baby and I took a long nap this morning and now she's playing quietly in her playpen while I lounge about and play on the internet. It's heaven, she never does this! Usually I'm chasing the little monkey all over the house or feeding her a bottle, or she's fallen asleep on me and I can't move lest I wake her. I know I should be up cleaning the house right now, but I have melted into the chair. She's making the cutest little baby noises in there. 50 minutes until the big ones start getting home from school, then a mad rush to make it to gymnastics class on time. It's raining outside and that makes me happy inside. I think if I shut my eyes I could take another nap...

Tomorrow is Monday

Monday is a good day. The kids have no afterschool activies on Monday, none. That means we can do homework, have fun, enjoy a house that was cleaned over the weekend, have time to make dinner, and get to bed at bedtime. Then it's time to hold on tight because the rest of the week is insane. My oldest is at a makeup soccer practice right now. We usually get Sunday's off.

I love watching them do their various activities, I do. It just takes a little joy out of it when they fight me about doing their homework, beg for fast food on the way home, and end up in bed far later than I would like on a schoolnight. There's also the baby, she comes along for the ride. Usually one of the big ones can give her her bottle, if need be, en route. When we get wherever we are going I usually have to send the kids ahead of me so I can change babykins, sigh.

I think I had a bit of the flu yesterday, today I am just exhausted.

I don't buy the whole exile argument either, he had to stay in countries that wouldn't extradite him, where he was still practicing his craft and rich beyond most people's dreams, living a lavish life. He chose to go to Switzerland, they arrested him, as well they should have. Hollywood defending him, France defending him, it's just bad. Judge Carter, Just Freaking Decide Already

A eligibility lawsuit regarding Obama had a hearing yesterday on a motion to dismiss. There were three hours of arguments and then the judge said that he would decide later. It's later, Judge Carter. I hate waiting, generally, in life.

In other news, I have had a nasty, disgusting day. I have been cleaning up the most vile things you can imagine. Things are about to get complicated, my little guy will be here in ten minutes, then it's drama, gymnastics, and soccer. Hopefully we don't have to take the disgusting show on the road.

I love the monkeys, but my temper is short lately. I'm stressed overwhelmed and underappreciated, in a word, Mom. What I wouldn't give to go to a hotel for a night and read a book by myself, uninterrupted. It's just a dream, and if I actually did it I would probably feel guilty the entire time. The baby crawls so fast now, and she's always heading for trouble. The middle guy is testing his boundaries. The tween is agreeing to do everything I ask and then simply not doing it. I hear a condescending tone in my husband's voice when he looks up from his football to talk to me.

I feel like I'm ramming headfirst into brick walls at every turn and it's exhausting. Working was 100x easier than staying home.

Fall is Full of Good Things

My flowers are blooming like crazy on the side of the house. It's beautiful! It's starting to really feel like Fall and I have a lot of green tomatoes still. Hopefully they get color before the frost. I am loving the weather, Fall has always been my favorite season. There are pumpkins in the stores, long sleeves are on. There are glaring holes in our fall wardrobes that I can't wait to correct. Soon there will be wonderful Pomegranates, but not from my tiny tree. I'm growing cranberries and can't wait to harvest those. All in all, life is good in the fall.

I'm Not Really Evil

I know that I tend to post when something upsets me. I'm not always upset, I just refuse to let my blog read like a Christmas letter, so I try to give the good and the bad. Sadly, the bad is more motivating than the good and I seem to be writing about it more.

I am really enjoying the season premieres this week. Desperate Housewives was so good. I love Drea De Matteo, she's beautiful. I loved her on the Soprano's as well. I hope they make her a regular. Gray's Anatomy was fabulous as well. They did a beautiful job with George's death. I can't wait for Private Practice on Thursday. I missed Medium's debut on CBS, too bad because the cliffhanger last season was intriguing, will have to see if I can grab it online.

My Little Guy Just Turned Eight

He got a skateboard, I'm sure he's going to break something. He's thrilled because he's finally 8, and carseat laws in the state say you have to be eight to stop riding in one. I personally think he's going to ask for it back once he realized that he can't see out the window in the SUV nearly as well. Yes, I drive an SUV, we're Republican.

We are continuing the birthday festivities today with a trip to Dave and Busters in an undisclosed city. I feel bad for little guy because he spent half of his birthday at school and then had to sit at his sister's soccer game in the evening. He had cake and presents but not much celebration time.

I hate the flu shot

I won't take it. It makes me feel horrible. My doctor says I have a "reaction" to it. I say it gives me the flu. I know it technically doesn't. But it makes me feel like I have it, so what's the difference really? My kids get the same reaction so they don't get the shot (or mist) either. I felt a little guilty about that this year, what with the swine flu, sorry H1N1 virius. Then I read this article that says that the flu shot increases your risk for getting the Swine Flu...maybe. Ha! I feel vindicated!

Biggest Baby Ever!

This 19 lb baby boy was born today in Indonesia. He is 24.4 inches long. He was thankfully born by cesarean section. Look at that kid. He weighs as much as a one year old. His mom is diabetic and doctors think that is what caused him to grow so large. The baby is the biggest baby ever born in Indonesia. There is reportedly a 22 lb baby who was born in 1955 in Italy, so he's not the biggest in the world.

His poor mother. I've had three six pounders (at different times!!!) and it made me feel like there was no room left to breathe, even mothers of twins and triplets often don't have a combined weight of 19 lbs of baby. I kind of love that little one next to him, just observing. His mother is going to develop some serious arm muscles from carrying him about.

I Think it's Going to Rain Today

I love the rain. I love falling asleep to the sound of rain at night. I love the smell of the air before the rain. I love running through the rain. It's fabulous in every way. My plants also love the rain, they can tell the difference between rain water and other water, it seems.

Since I've been staying home with the baby I have occasional flashes of sadness about leaving my career behind. Everyone knows that it cannot just be picked back up, what you get is a crumbled mess of a career you have to rebuild. I've been home 9 months now. I had said I would stay home a year. Sadly, I am seeing what an absolute liar my 12 year old is and see how easily she bends to peer pressure, and just how eager she is to impress, and have convinced myself that either drugs or a pregnancy are in her future if I let her come home alone. So now I decide, nanny or mommy? She's too old for childcare in a center environment.

The other day my husband called me a former lawyer. I cried my eyes out. I worked so hard for this. There is also another child, my boy in the middle. He's like the little girl with the little curl. When he's good, he's very, very good, but when he is bad, he is horrid. So, back to the mommy vs. nanny dilemma. A nanny could be here with baby all day and be here for the kids afterwards, much like I am now. She can get them to sports and other activities and give them a sense of discipline. Can I handle someone so completely taking over the role of mom? Can I trust anyone with my children? We've all heard the horror stories. Money is a bit of an issue, but just in terms of quality of life. My husband can cover the bills but there's no room for extras, like the amazing summer camp the kids have become accustomed to, or the clothes with the labels that everyone is wearing, or a college fund (that's a huge one).

I'm Obsessed with the Haleigh Cummings Case - My Apologies

Sorry about that. I'll try to keep all that kind of stuff on my other website, Kids in Peril. It's just that sometimes a case consumes me and I want to talk about it constantly.

A minor miracle happened on my columnar apple tree. It was blooming a bit ago, which made me sad, because the others weren't meaning no cross-pollination and thus no apples. Well the blooms have fallen off and apples are developing! Must have been an apple tree somewhere near that was blooming. Thanks little bee for traveling a bit for me.

I have a tiny backyard, so I have tiny trees in it, among other plants. A dwarf apple, two collumnar apples (plus two in the front yard), raspberries, blueberries, grapes, artichokes, tomatoes, peppers, cranberries a pomegrantate tree. At this time last year it had 4 fifty foot pines in it and sappy pine needles everywhere, even the dog didn't like to hang out back there. Sometimes I would rake up the pine needles, then it looked like a campground. I don't like camping. I'm so proud of what we've done. There's fruit and grass. The kids actually play back there.

I saw the IMAX version of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs yesterday in 3-d. It was really expensive but completely worth it. I only took the two big kids while baby and daddy stayed home at watched the football game. I also got to see the previews for Where the Wild Things Are, I can't wait to see it!

I was flipping through the Showtime on Demand menu when I came across Dexter the other night. I haven't see it, so I watched episode 1, season one. OMG!!! Why did no one tell me how very awesome Dexter is? I immediately watched episode 2, but it was past 2 am when that was done so I had to go to sleep after that. I'm going to watch them all!!! I love that sociopath.

A bit of Haleigh Non-News - UPDATED

UPDATE: The search has been confirmed to be part of the Haleigh Cummings investigation. The police are still saying there was no body found. No word on why police first denied that the search was related to Haleigh Cummings. Police are denying that the questioning of Misty's brother and sister-in-law have anything to do with the search. Say it is related to a tip.

There have been rumors and even media reports flying around that Haleigh Cumming's body was found last night. The police are saying that this is not true. I really have no choice but to believe them, plus I really want to believe them. They are draining a pond near her house, they say it's part of a marijuana bust, her paternal great-grandmother says she's sure it's a Haleigh search. Both Tommy and Lindsay Croslin (Misty Croslin's brother and sister-in-law) were questioned extensively yesterday. Misty is Haleigh's stepmother, and the last person to see her alive. I am so hoping that the little girl is safe somewhere.

He's Coming Home Today!

Finally. My husband is coming back today. His company tried to get him to change his plane ticket and stay longer, he declined!!! That's a first. My kids have proven that they are demon creatures and I need a break. Well, the older two have, the baby is not old enough to be a demon creature yet. My house is a horrifying mess. I'm thinking that I clean the house (ugh), and then have drinking night with my husband!!! I love drinking night. That sounds bad. I love having nothing to do and relaxing with my husband.

I have a 12 year old, it's kind of like having a tiger in the house. It's beautiful but you kinda know it's going to attack at some point. She's fantastically pretty and looks older than she is (which makes me nervous). Her smile can disarm anyone. She's also mean. She's super sweet until you tell her no about something, or she takes something the wrong way and then the ridiculous ranting and raving that comes out of her followed by the stomping and door slamming and proclamations of hatred is almost comical, almost.

My middle one is almost 8. He's sneaky. He takes stuff upstairs and hides it. He's also destructive. When he's sent to his room he'll absolutely wreck it, dumping out legos and pushing over chairs. All of this behavior is magnified 1000x when his father isn't here. My daughter also acts up more when he's not around. Come to think of it, the dog doesn't listen as well either...annoying.

Casey Anthony Tries to get Charges Dropped Against Her

Everyone who knows me knows that I am an avid follower of the Caylee Anthony case. That means that Casey is on my list. The girl is guilty as hell, in my opinion. She's an immature brat who took an absolute gift and literally killed that gift, allegedly. She has filed three different motions lately. The first is a motion to drop the charges due to improper preservation of the evidence, the second is a motion to change venue to either Broward, Miami-Dade, or Palm Beach County, and the third is to not be videotaped when her lawyers or parents visit her in jail. The girl killed her 2 year old, wrapped her tiny face in duct tape, and dumped her less than a mile from the house they lived in with Caylee's grandparents, allegedly. Casey is facing the death penalty, this Hail Mary motion won't change that, I'm sure.

I tried to find a way to say that nicely. I didn't succeed. According to former President Jimmy Carter there is racism coming to the surface in this country and the criticism of Obama flows from racism, white people who don't think a black person is qualified to run the country. Seriously? I thought I hated his policies, not that I was a racist. I'm annoyed by the implication that there can be no other reason for disagreement. Hello, he's trying to make us Socialists! Am I allowed to be upset about that? I'm getting a little sick of the racism thing. Is this President (who by the way, is grossly underqualified, and not because he's black) immune to all criticism simply because of the color of his skin?

Big Brother - Last Post of the Season - The Ultimate Spoiler

Jordan won, Jordan won, Jordan won. She won part 3 of the head of household comp and evicted Kevin. Smart move for a dumb girl. I appears the jury house hates Natalie, as evidenced in the 5-2 vote (America voted for Jordan), Kevin and Russell voted for Natalie. Kevin walked straight out to the live questioning before the vote without getting to talk to the other jury members.

Jeff got AC, I still think he's a prick but it seems that his funny side is coming back as the stress pours off. Jordan said she's going to put a down payment down on a house for her, her brother, and her mom and maybe get a new car. Her mom was giddy with excitement with that news. As a mother I couldn't imagine accepting such a gift from my child and would encourage her to go out on her own at her age, get her own house, etc.. Oh well, to each their own.

Big Brother, of course did not reveal the winner until the last 5 minutes of the two hour finale. It took about 45 minutes just to get to part 3 of the HOH.

My husband has landed at his far away destination and I am here. I have three events to do with the kids tonight (4 if you count dinner, and I probably should count dinner). One has gymnastics, one has soccer, there is a back to school night, dinner, then showers and bed and then at 9:00 THE TWO HOUR BIG BROTHER FINALE. So, I had planned to fit in homework before gymnastics and dinner between gymnastics and soccer, but then I get the email about back to school night which overlaps with both gymnastics and soccer. I have to go to back to school night late and leave early because that's the only way my son can enroll in Cub Scouts, ugh. So, I guess we will eat at like 4:00! I hope the baby cooperates today, the kids will probably have to feed her her bottle while I chauffer them from place to place. I can't wait for the finale show. I think I will have a drink or two while I'm watching it.

On a completely unrelated note, the baby cannot drop her pacifier on the floor because the dog immediately grabs it, runs with it, and eats the nipple. This is my life.

There He Goes Again

My husband is leaving tomorrow for his third business trip in 4 weeks. The kids are in school so we never get to tag along. This time it's a short trip, 4 days. There's good and bad to him going on these trips. I love to stretch out on the bed and take up every possible inch. I hate to be the only person for the kids. With all of their activities and whatnot it's really hard for one person to get them to everything.

I'm also just a bit jealous. He gets spending money for fancy meals and entertainment that he gets to enjoy with grownups. I get to make something that my 7 year old will eat. Usually something that ends in helper. He gets maid service and he gets to read in first/business class on an airplane. I can't remember the last time I read on an airplane and I have no maid. As a matter of fact, my husband has begun to claim that our house looks like it belongs on cops when he returns home from his business trips. This is not only untrue, but it makes me want to smack him. How about, thanks for taking care of three kids by yourself, sweetie?

The trips also further his career, this can only be filed under good. His dedication to his career is the reason we can afford (barely) for me to stay home with the baby. The barely is not his fault, I'm the one with the six figure law school debt that eats up the monthly budget. I try really hard not to think about my career, or lack of one. I'm a lawyer, our life used to revolve around my career. Now, it revolves around his. It's his turn, it's only fair. Sometimes I don't care about fair and it makes me sad. If I vocalize this I am quickly reminded that I chose to have this baby, to stay home with her. Of course I did, and I don't regret it, but my career was a huge part of my identity so sometimes I mourn. That said, I love my life and wouldn't change a thing.

Grocery Store Rant

I'm tired of people who work in grocery stores blocking entire aisles and not moving when customers are trying to shop. I go in for specific things and I really need the baking powder you are standing in front of. I'm not going to go away if you just ignore me.

Yesterday, I had a clerk (presumably on a break) cut to the front of the checkout line and pay for her items. In what world is that okay? I get that you have a limited break, but my time is limited too, stand in the freaking line like everyone else. Hire more cashiers if the lines are too long. Please.

When the self-checkout first came along I loved it. Quick, easy. I soon found that it had it's limitations, so I decided that I should use it for small amounts of goods. One grocery store in my neighborhood recently had 2 lights on for the normal checkout, but no cashiers to be seen, and a bunch of self checkouts open. I looked at my half full cart dubiously and my sleepy, grumpy baby and realized the decision had been made for me, there were literally no clerks. As I checked myself out, turning products every which way to scan the bar code I also attempted to keep a hand on my nine month old who was trying desperately to escape.

As I'm watching the prices come up I realize that a good half of them are coming up more expensive than I remember them being on the shelf. I look around, not a person working there in sight. Sigh. Then the machine made an announcement, my bagging area was full I would have to bag some groceries and then scan some more. So now I'm bagging groceries with my hand on the baby and my groceries half scanned. The machine then starts yelling at me to push finish if I'm finished, which I'm not. I now have enough bagged that I can run back and scan again. I scan and scan and scan until I come across the artichokes. Now I have to find these in the produce lookup. ugh. All the while the baby is getting awfully squirmy and trying to turn backwards and stand up and someone has appeared to bag my groceries, she asks if I want a bag for the Gatorade. I say "no, it's okay," that's what I always say when people say, do you want a bag for this, as if I would be insane if I said yes.

Finally I'm about done. Just two bags of chips and a jar of salsa. There is a deal on these products. Two bags of chips for $6 and you get the salsa for free. The salsa rang up at $4, not free. I asked the cashier for help, she literally took several minutes to get from the groceries at the end of the belt to me and finally voided the salsa price at my request. I left the other inaccuracies alone because I wasn't sure about exacts and it was like 18 items. Then she said, "you got this?," and left the rest of my groceries unbagged. It appears all she did was not bag the Gatorade. Whatever. So here I am bagging groceries again, baby is starting to cry because her nap is past due, and I still have to run next door to the mailing place to fax something because my fax machine decided to break.

I hate grocery shopping. It's no fun at all. The people who are standing back weaving back and forth between two lines to see which one goes faster, the people who hit you with their cart, the cashiers who apparantly hate me, the poor little old man on the phone trying to find out if the brand of flour is important to his wife at home and it standing out in the middle completely oblivious, the lady writing the check, and my wonderful children who ask for everything they see.

I do have to mention that he is beyond gutsy, hopefully it doesn't bite him on the ass. He is promoting his book, which does discuss corruption charges against him. It is coming out before his trial. Big Night Tonight on Big Brother - Spoiler

Now we are down to four. Natalie, Michele, Jordan, and Kevin are a pretty unlikely and unlikeable final four but that's where we are. So, Natalie is HOH, Kevin has the Veto, by default either Michelle or Jordan must go tonight. Michele is a much stronger player and Natalie is threatening to castrate Kevin if he doesn't vote Michele out, so I'm thinking she's probably leaving tonight. That sucks.

I guess Kevin is the best of the rejects. Jordan has not even played, she's far too dumb to be strategic, nobody respects her "game" of letting Jeff do all the work. Natalie has a lot of jury votes, but Kevin knows she's a little liar and he also knows he can't win against her. He can convince Jordan of this as well, so it's very, very likely that Natalie is the next to go. She doesn't win much and Kevin can dig in his heels. I think he'll hold out on endurance longer than either of the girls, he wants it more, he's a greedy bitch.

So, there's my prediction. Michele goes tonight. Then Natalie. That leaves Kevin and Jordan. Kevin wins because he's got more jury house support and he played more than Jordan.

Liberals Use of the Word Silly - Address to School Children

I was listening to the news today, I heard the secretary of education call parents who are concerned with Obama's speech to the schoolchildren "silly." Silly is an extremely condescending term to use toward other adults. It completely undermines any idea that there is a rational argument there. We are not silly, we are well versed in history and have seen communist regimes begin this way, with the indoctrination of the young.

Obama has shown himself to be a radical and when he says he wants to speak to the children without their parents, and gives liberal teachers lesson plans to further his message, it gives me pause. I saw those original questions in the lesson plans, to be given before, during, and after the speech, and they were disturbing.

Now that I have read the speech (please see the full text here) I was relieved to find that it is a typical Obama is Awesome Day, where the President pats himself on the back in front of an audience, anyone who misses it should be able to catch a similar session when Obama takes over Primetime TV on Wednesday. There is no doubt in my mind that the speech has been altered after the public outcry just as the questions in the lesson plan were altered.

People who state that they cannot see why anyone would be upset by the Presidential speech are being willfully ignorant. Maybe they are just being "silly."

Baby on the Beach and Big Brother

We took the baby to the beach. She was actually awake this time! Unfortunately, she kept eating the sand. It's okay though, she's still cute. We were pulled over on the way home for speeding and got a warning. I love warnings, better than not getting pulled over at all, really. Then you feel lucky.

The older kids did all sorts of acrobatic things on the beach, I got hit by a wave that was bigger than expected and got the bottom of my rolled up pants wet. This always happens. I'm used to it. The kids got to actually see a labor day weekend crowded boardwalk, as we usually like to visit the beach in the fall and winter so we can have it to ourselves. Derek, of course, parked like a million miles away so we could get a free spot.

I watched Big Brother tonight, the people in costume were far less entertaining than I had hoped. Natalie was telling the truth!!! I couldn't believe it! She did get to see her boyfriend, he did propose. Now I'm left feeling that it's a bit unfair. The whole idea of the Big Brother house is that you are isolated from the outside world. Very short monitored reward phone calls are one thing, twenty minutes with a loved one is completely different. It changes your mindset, the sense of isolation which is the game, has been altered. I'm starting to like Kevin more and more and I really wish Natalie was going rather than Jordan or Michele (because SPOILER Kevin won the veto). I do love that they all see through her at this point, but I'm afraid it's really too late. I miss Russell and Lydia.

Thursday night Jeff pranced his happy ass out the door, presumably heading off to get his face used as a mop by Russell in the jury house. After which, Jeff will, of course, knife Russell in the neck. Fun times. I do have to admit I did a happy dance when he left, he's a thuggish type and I don't like him much.

Okay, a ton has happened since then. On the live show Natalie won HOH. Her nominations were.....Michele and Kevin! Yes, the girl who hasn't broken her word (per her) put up her only ally in the house. Whatever, it's final four, these things happen.

Luxury Comp: There was a luxury comp. New clothes were had by all. Natalie claimed they were all too big for her because she's an extra small. I think she just didn't need them because she doesn't ever shower or change her clothes.

Pandora's Box: As many have speculated, Pandora's Box was not over with the money drop and Kevin getting his arm trapped. Natalie has accepted something from Pandora's Box which she traded for the ability to play veto. She claimed it was a chance to meet with a loved one in person. She also claims it was her boyfriend that she met up with and he proposed and said that the internet hates her. She's a big liar, so take all of that with a grain of salt. There's a lot of speculation out there that she took a large amount of money in exchange for the veto and did not want to admit to that. There was also some kind of craziness that came from her opening Pandora's Box that involved little people and maybe former houseguests, can't wait to see that!

Jordan and Natalie have made a final 2 deal, lets see if they stick to it. POV has not occured yet.

Tomorrow is a Teacher Work Day

The kids have only been in school 4 days, now it's a 4 day weekend. Do teachers actually work on a teacher work day? I'm not one, so I don't know. Since they always seem to be on the other side of a three day weekend my guess is that they work until like noon, or from home and then go to their weekend. It's just a guess.

My kids get a 5 day weekend because of the School Skip Day I have planned for Tuesday. We don't do indoctrination, it's not proper in a free society. Too bad my husband doesn't have Friday and Tuesday off as well, we could vacation!

On a completely different note, Michael Jackson is getting interred today. It's about time. He died in June.

Obama is attempting to take over primetime again next Wednesday. I didn't even look to see why. I don't care. It's like the boy who cried wolf. The news channels are for political speeches and the like.

If, god forbid, there is an event like September 11th, then by all means break into whatever shows you like. His recent decision to stream a live feed into the schools so he can address the children, complete with a lesson plan forwarded to the schools, is indicitive of that. Dead Frog in a Pepsi Can

My worst fears have been realized. There was a frog (or toad, the FDA isn't sure) found in a can of Diet Pepsi. The poor man who found it, popped it open, took a drink, and then started gagging. The man and his wife poured out the can and found a gelatinous blog in the bottom which resembled pink linguine, followed by something black. The FDA has determined that the frog (or toad) was gutted. How they know that the mostly liquefied frog was gutted I have no idea.

Everyone who knows me knows that I don't drink out of soda cans, ever. I have to pour the contents into a clear glass. I won't drink it if I can't see it. I always assumed it would be a dead rat on the bottom. It's nice to see my neurotic fear was completely rational. I'm not sure I can ever drink out a soda can again, even poured into a glass. It's just too gross.

Unbelievable, Roger Stephens, of Georgia hauled off and slapped a two year old girl repeatedly for crying in the Wal-Mart. He looks like a real prince, right? If I were her mom I would have beat the crap out of him. Two year olds cry, sometimes they cry a lot. Sometimes moms have to continue shopping or face life without diapers, food, etc. I faced this when my husband was away with the Army, taking grumpy (and sometimes sick) kids into the store and being frazzled beyond belief, but HAVING to do it. The kid was probably having a temper tantrum, it doesn't really matter the cause of the crying because nothing, NOTHING justifies an adult slapping someone's child (or their own child, for that matter). I hope they charge him with everything they can charge him with, so far it's felony cruely to children. Look at him, he doesn't deserve to share the soil with the rest of us.

Just as her son's wife is about to give birth old Michelle Mullethead announces she is pregnant again. She's 42, the apparantly sexually insatiable Jim Bob is 44. Kids take a ton of energy and effort. I just don't see how any human could possibly give any one of those kids the attention and care that they need to become good adults. After all, that is our number one job as parents, to take that child you have created and make them into a good adult. It's fundamently unfair to the existing children to continue having babies and taking away their parental time until they are left with nearly none. The older kids, with their little "buddies" are being forced to grow up way too soon. The younger ones, left in the hands of children are placed in an unforgivably perilous situation. Maybe her uterus will fall out when she has this next one, one can only hope.

When I look in the mirror I am pleased with what I see. When I see a photograph of myself I am horrified. It's not because I'm not photogenic or anything like that. It's because I have gotten quite fat. For whatever reason I see an altered view of me in the mirror. I see me way back when, young and thin... Now, three kids later I more resemble Jane than Deb in "Drop Dead Diva," at least in photos. It's like I have an image cached in my head or have some strange twist on body dysmorphic disorder. Ugh. I have a baby sleeping on me who will wake up if I get up, so here I stay, wishing something worth watching was on Sunday at 9 pm. Damn Lifetime for always putting a movie on before "Army Wives" because it is always half done by the time "Big Brother" is over. So, today I read that a crack pipe was found in DJ AM's apartment along with prescription drugs and the body. I actually thought that he had defeated his demons. After a near death experience last year I guess I was hoping he was somewhat grateful to be alive. He was filming a reality show at the time of his death, featuring interventions. The police have stated that there is no evidence of foul play. I suspect this was just another life wasted. He was 36.

The Jaycee Dugard Case Isn't as Happy As I Had Hoped

Phillip and Nancy Garrido abducted Jaycee Dugard when she was 11 years old. After the abduction Jaycee had a terrible existence for 18 years straight. She had two kids with this monster, forced home births, she never got an education, nor did they. She didn't have decent living accommodations, she was locked in a shed with a makeshift bathroom and shower, it has been compared to camping. Camping for 18 years. Could you imagine being locked in from the outside all the time? I would go insane. By my calculations she had her first child at 14, she must have been terrified.

Her abductors deserve to be executed. They probably will never be though, even if they get the death penalty, which California does have, they never execute anyone there. People just die off on death row. Too bad she wasn't from Texas, they'd be dead in six years time. Texas is quick like that.

When I heard that she had come forward I had hoped that she had been stolen by some desperate childless couple who raised her as their own, despite the crime in obtaining her. Instead she was kept as a toy for a pedofile sex offender. Disgusting.

The vehicle was found in the parking lot of a West Hollywood grocery store. The police were brought there by a tip from a citizen who noticed it there. The police have been telling everyone to keep an eye out for this car and it seems to have paid off.

Jasmine was married to Ryan Jenkins (shown above) at the time of her death, who recently was on "Megan Wants a Millionaire". She was found in a dumpster with her teeth and fingernails removed. She was identified by the serial numbers on her breast implants.

My Big Brother Dream

Now that Jeff has betrayed his final 4 alliance there is no need for Michele to be loyal to him or Jordan. It's very clear that Jeff is playing for Jeff and Jordan and Jordan is playing for Jordan. Neither one of them has any loyalty outside of this. This means that Kevin and Michele really need to get together and keep Russell. Russell has the physical and mental ability to beat Jeff in a competition and Natalie has already pledged her loyalty to Jeff and Jordan with the knowledge that she is replacing Michele in that position. This leaves Michele and Kevin in a precarious position, outnumbered and underpowered.

However, if they keep Russell they are no longer outnumbered and with Jeff ineligible for HOH and Jordan incapable of winning nearly anything they are virtually guaranteed that one of the two will go home next week. As an added bonus, they get rid of stinky Natalie, seriously, please shower!, who hasn't really won anything except the first HOH competition (which Jessie got to take advantage of) but I believe is completely capable of winning.

Also, Jeff's vile habit of threatening violence against others seems to be rubbing off on Jordan. It's just as unattractive on her. Who would have guessed that two beautiful people could be so ugly on the inside?

Michael Jackson's Death Ruled a Homicide

Today the AP put out confirmation that Michael Jackson's death was a homicide.

Homicide is a scary word. The homicide detectives on tv are always investigating brutal murders, so homicide is just another word for murder, right? Not so much. The definition of homicide is death by the hands of another. There is nothing in there about intent. Going back to philosophy class, all murders are homicides, all homicides are not murders.

Michael Jackson died due to the doctors administration of the drugs in his system. Since the doctor administered the drugs it is a homicide, if Michael had somehow administered the drugs himself (ignore the logistics for just a moment) it would probably be ruled accidental. Not all homicides are even crimes. People accidentally kill people, people kill people for good reason (i.e. a cop killing a subject who is shooting at him) the ruling of homicide is really just a jumping off point. All this means is that it is now definite that the propofol (diprivan) that the doctor administered did in fact kill Michael.

Jeff has HOH, Jeff has veto, Jeff has a final four deal with Jordan, Michele, and Russell...and Natalie? Since Jeff has the power this week and Jordan had it last week the two of them have been occupying the HOH room for quite a while now. Power does not look good on Jordan, she has become the queen of the house, hiding away and ignoring other people in the house, talking crap about everyone. She also has become quite pushy and nasty, this might be related to her period though, which she talks about 24/7.

Jeff and Jordon are getting on my last nerve lately and I hope against hope that they lose power next week. Sadly, due to Michele's almost pathological lying Russell may be gone by them. Do dumb and dumber not see all the support that Natalie and Kevin have in the Jury house? If they break their alliance to Russ I'm sure he's not voting for them either. America's vote (thanks, Chima!) may go their way due to the golden edit they seem to recieve. That golden edit has got to stop soon as Jordan hasn't smiled or said a nice word in over a week, you can't edit something that's not there.

Ted Kennedy

This is going to be rather touchy, criticizing a man who has a terminal disease and lost his sister last week, in addition to being a member of American Royalty, but it must be done. Ted Kennedy apparently thinks the world revolves around him, and in some ways it always has. He was born to privilege, got away with murder (allegedly), and had a path to politics cleared for him. All of this is ancient history though, what I'm talking about is the here and now.

Kennedy made news recently by asking for a temporary gubernatorial appointment to fill his seat pending a special election if and when it becomes vacant as opposed to a five month seat vacancy for waiting for the special election. This sounds reasonable, except that he's the one that pushed for the law which doesn't allow this type of appointment, just five years ago! Why has his mind changed so radically? It's clearly a sense of self-entitlement, the laws should always work for him and never against him. If they do work against him then he'll push to have them changed. In this case, he really wants a democratic senator appointed if he should have to vacate his seat so that Obama will have the maximum number of votes available for the Obamacare bill as well as other liberal agenda items.

According to the Wall Street Journal, "What Mr. Kennedy doesn't volunteer is that he orchestrated the 2004 succession law revision that now requires a special election, and for similarly partisan reasons. John Kerry, the other Senator from the state, was running for President in 2004, and Mr. Kennedy wanted the law changed so the Republican Governor at the time, Mitt Romney, could not name Mr. Kerry's replacement." Goodbye Lydia

Lydia is gone from the Big Brother house. What a colossally stupid move on the part of Jeff and Jordan. Lydia never wins anything, she's just mean. Mean makes good tv but rarely produces a winner by itself. Even Evel Dick had to compete! Natalie may actually be capable of winning the game and at this point she may actually deserve to win it. Also, Jordan is dumb. There's no nice way to put it, she is really, really dumb.

I am wondering what will really happen in the privacy of the jury house. I'll bet all is forgiven in two seconds flat and Lydia and Jessie are together again in no time. Maybe they deserve each other. I am now hoping Russ wins. Julie Chen is getting really big, anyone know when she's due?

One last thing of note, completely unrelated to Big Brother. I saw the pics on TMZ this morning of Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes out on the golf course. I've watched all the coverage, the kiss, the stalking allegation. The breakup of two marriages, one with two children involved, but the question remains... How did she get him??? I've was a huge fan of Eddie Cibrian during his Sunset Beach and Third Watch days, and he's the hottest guy I've ever laid eyes on. She's rather rat faced and plain. His WIFE, Brandi Glanville, seems like a much better fit, lookswise.

Octomom

I feel for the Octomom. I really do. Regardless of the choices she made in the past she has a lot of kids now, a lot. I caught the very end of her special last night, maybe 15 minutes of it. What I saw was a tired, overwhelmed, frustrated woman. She has so much more on her plate than she can possibly handle. Also, people seem to always want to make her admit that she made a mistake. She has. That's more than I would do. I would never call my kids a mistake, ever. But I get it, everyone seems to want to see remorse, regret...so she finally gives it to them.

What I saw last night was tragic, but not hopeless. She did have help, some sort of support, even though her mother is not included in that. At this point my thoughts are, what's done is done, perhaps forgiveness is in order. She honestly appears to be doing the best she can. So maybe the media can finally stop trying to rub her nose in her mistakes and let her concentrate on the extraordinary challenge ahead. And I get that she opened this door by doing the special but really she's just trying to provide for those kids in a way that lets her be home with them. I get that, I actually admire that. I think they're going to make it.

Although I will be the first person to say that Jon Gosselin is going seriously insane, I kinda like that he's finally emerging. I stopped watching Jon & Kate Plus 8 some time ago because I just couldn't listen to Kate's bitchiness. I guess I just saw Jon as a non-person, more like a piece of furniture, a kicking post or something. I get why he is emerging so strongly. Kate emasculated him for years, to the point where viewers were cringing at her treatment of him and automatically siding with him at the news of the breakup.

He quickly remedied that and now most people seem to be taking the side of the shrew. Ed Hardy, Michael Lohan, super young girlfriend? I get that he wants to live his life the way he wants now that he's out from under Kate's thumb, but he seems to be trying to relive a missed youth and he's kinda old for that. I can say that because he's my age. I'm definitely too old for the crap he's pulling, and I don't even have the awesome responsibility of 8 children.

I guess my point is that this mid-life crisis, or whatever it is, isn't super attractive and may cost him. It's nice to see him coming out of his shell, so to speak, but perhaps he should do it with some dignity.

Misty Croslin-Cummings is in the news again. Police are now specifically stating that she is not cleared in the Haleigh disappearance and that they don't think it was a stranger abduction. Mom and dad have been cleared. The police seem to think she's withholding information. But why? I've been following this story since day one and her various versions of events never seemed to add up. She's covering something up.

The girl is shady, the whole situation is shady. I just hope that someone gets a conscience and lets this little girl go home, alive or otherwise. Her parents are suffering, her grandparents are suffering. They need some kind of peace. I read a blurb today that George and Cindy Anthony are stepping back into this case, to help. I'm not sure how I feel about that just yet.

It looks like the vocal opposition of Obamacare is making a dent in the President's carefully laid plans. The biggest problem with Obama is that he thinks the Presidency is rather like a dictatorship in that he can simply list off his personal agenda and push though laws to further that end. He would like to make us into a socialist country, and fast! Unfortunately for him, the American System includes checks and balances. This system includes Congress, who are elected officials by the people, to represent the people. When they stop doing that people get upset, thus the increased attendance at the town halls. It does seem rather important that the people that are being represented be able to tell their representative their opinion on the matter. Otherwise, it's just a Congressperson representing themselves and not their consitutants. This is not a great way to go about being reelected.

This blog wasn't really meant to be all politics all the time. So, I'm going to talk about one of my favorite shows. Big Brother. I was thrilled last night when Jessie was sent on his way. I hope stupid old Chima is next. The queen bee must go. There is nothing worse than hearing the evil witch laugh. I kinda want Lydia to win, just kinda. She's rather mushy and pliable, which are not great qualities. I think the CDT power couldn't have gone to a better person. Off to watch Big Brother After Dark on Showtime. No feeds for me, I'm too much of a Big Brother Addict to do that again!

Reading the Bill

H.R. 3200 Yesterday I began reading the Healthcare bill in it's entirety, which puts me one step ahead of congress. In my first scan I was overwhelmed by the amount of government intervention into the healthcare system, this thing is massive. One thing caught my eye though, premium pricing. The premiums for socialized medicine are of course covered by cost sharing, you make more, you pay more. Under section 243(b)(2) "PREMIUM PERCENTAGE LIMITS BASED ON TABLE- The Commissioner shall establish premium percentage limits so that for individuals whose family income is within an income tier specified in the table in subsection (d) such percentage limits shall increase, on a sliding scale in a linear manner, from the initial premium percentage to the final premium percentage specified in such table for such income tier."

If you make less you pay less. So, then, what is the incentive to make more? There is none. If everything is shared, people get lazy. Some people stop working all together and the high earners don't see the point of 60 hour weeks when they are not reaping the benefits and others are getting the exact same thing with little or no work. One of the problems with this is that this shrinks the amount of money in the pool and so cuts must be made. Cuts in things like hospital staff, equipment, and research. It also leads to a society that is undesirable.

The very idea of the American Dream is at stake. This was once a place where people could accomplish anything with some ingenuity and a lot of hard work, where millionaires were made. The incentives to do this have been slipping away for quite some time, but this program will destroy the American Dream. It's sad.

Un-American?

So now the wonderful Nancy Pelosi is saying that people who oppose socialized medicine at town hall meetings are un-American. Are you kidding me? The democrats invented dissent. Remember "Hell No, We Won't Go"? The double standard is beyond insane. As a former military wife I tend to consider myself patriotic, the opposite of un-American, but it seems now that if I disagree with a nationalized healthcare system I can't be patriotic at all. The problem is that we aren't a socialist country, I don't understand why supporting this type of legislation would be American or patriotic at all. I'm not un-American, I'm simply against this new socialized America that Obama is trying desperately to create in record time.

Also, as a former military spouse I have a different prospective than a lot of people in this country. I have lived with government healthcare. I have been forced to wait weeks or months for care for issues that are urgent and painful. I have arrived at appointment to find that my doctor has been deployed, and I have been told that no referrals are available because the specialist has been transferred to another base. I have also had to deal with the fact that throughout a very high risk pregnancy I never saw the same doctor twice and no one knew my history at all. I had to tell doctors my history as they skimmed my medical file in front of me. The files were replaced by computer records near the end of my husbands military service and they would look at medications and short notes to try to peice together medical conditions. It was substandard care, luckily for me there were other options, private emergency rooms for a large co-pay if things got too bad or urgent. If everything is government run there will be no options like that. That's horrifying to me.

One more aspect of government run healthcare, which is what this bill is leading us into, is the giant hmo-type mentality. This means that care, prescriptions available, doctors, specialists, treatments offered are all determined by the insurer, the government. At this point doctors are advocates of the patients, but when they are hired by the insurance company whose advocates will they be? Not mine. I also hate to think of the halt of the great medical advances this country has made as a direct result of companies being able to charge a premium for prescriptions in the years before the patent expires. People won't do it for free and government hiring tends to breed inefficiency and apathy. The whole thing makes my head hurt.

Healthcare

I am loving the people coming together at town halls to attempt to talk some sense into representatives home for the August recess. The uprising against socialism is amazing and inspiring. The democrats statements on the issue are beyond insane. The claims I've heard just lately is that the people in the town halls are planted there, that the people at the town halls are violent, and that they carry swastikas.

The truth is that the Republican party doesn't need to plant anyone in these town halls. There is real opposition to united healthcare/Obamacare/whatever you want to call it. As to the violence, I read one of the articles that claimed violence and the single example they could give was a man who was hurt trying to jump into some closing doors because the fire marshall had said no one else could enter. He had a ripped shirt and a scratch. That's all they could come up with? Swastikas? This was just an audio clip of Nancy Pelosi saying this. As I scratch my head and try to figure out why someone would carry this horrible symbol, if they were indeed carrying it, this is Nancy Pelosi, I finally come up with it, these are probably not white supremists or skinheads....they are far more likely to be people comparing our government with Nazi Germany. Sad but not entirely inaccurate.

It's funny, when the democrats disagree with something they pull on their filthy unwashed jeans and go protest while the liberal media cheerleads and takes all sorts of misleading shots to make the protest appear to have more than 20 people attending. However, when individual Republicans try to argue issues at a legitimate forum and dressed in clean clothing they get slammed in the press.

I pretty much love that congress refused to meet Obama's August deadline. What's the rush? Give them time to read it. They are supposed to represent the people, shouldn't they see what the people are thinking? Obama is a bit like a used car salesman in this way. It happened with the stimulus as well. Rush, rush, rush, don't read it!!! If they leave the building they may walk away from the deal. I hope they do.

The New Justice

August 6, 2009 - Obamacare is the single worst idea I've heard in a long, long time. Also, when did it become okay for members of congress to not read the bills that they vote on? I find myself wondering what happened to this country. I simply don't recognize it any more. The idea of the federal government paying for abortions makes my skin crawl.

After much research and consideration I have decided to categorize myself as a birther. Now, I'm not sure Mr. Obama was born in Kenya, but I'm also not sure he was born in Hawaii. This is a problem because I should be able to be sure. After all, the president is supposed to be a natural born citizen. His refusal to prove this is highly suspicious. It seems extremely expensive and unnecessary to block the release of the one document that would prove this if he is, in fact, Hawaiian born. As a result of my research I have found that a certificate of live birth can be issued to a person born on foreign soil. The full long form document, the birth certificate, is required to prove Hawaiian birth. Why won't he release it? Why did his paternal grandmother say that she was present at his birth in Kenya? Just produce the birth certificate and all the questions will be answered...except one, adoption.

I don't profess to be an expert in adoption law, however Mr. Obama's travels, along with school registrations bring up the strong possibility of him being adopted by his Indonesian stepfather, possibly while living in Indonesia. Indonesia does not have duel citizenship. Did Obama renounce his U.S. Citizenship?

Okay, enough Obama. It's depressing.

Today is my anniversary. I am home with the kids and my husband is at work, making all the money. Fun, right? So why do I feel guilty and overwhelmed all at once? The house is a mess and my mind is turning to mush. Time for grown up talk.

Yesterday a self-described "wise Latino woman" was confirmed to the United States Supreme Court. Sonia Sotomayor, the racist. It amazes me that racism is fine as long as it doesn't come from the white 'majority.' I hate her policy. I hate that she is willing to choose race over applying the law. I hate that she touts empathy as a legal method. Her one job is to interpret the law, not bend and mould it to serve her personal agenda. She is a horrible choice. I know I sound bitter, I am.

There is something to be excited about though. The media seems to be slowing removing their lips from Obama's ass. I would never expect unbaised reporting, that would be too much to ask. However, issues are being brought up. The birth certificate issue is finally making news. The 200 day report reflects dissapointment in the sitting president. His healthcare policy is being questioned. These are all good things. The tide may be turning, slowly.

Obama has been in office 8 months and he's doing his best to make us Canada as quickly as possible. We have government intervention and control up the ying yang. He clearly hates our country and apologizes for it every chance he gets.

On a completely unrelated note I just have to mention Paula Abdul. She's really leaving Idol? She is the entertainment for that show. Her antics cause tons of people to tune in, including me. She is fun to make fun of and fun to watch. Trust me, I don't tune in to see Randy say dawg. I do enjoy the singing (sometimes) but it's kind of a package deal. Watch the singer mangle a song, watch Simon rip the person to shreds, and then watch Paula gush. It's fun. I can't imagine Victoria Beckham or Katy Perry gushing or embarassing themselves in such a manner.
